Desy 02-194 the Phenomenology of Glueball and Hybrid Mesons
نویسنده
چکیده
The existence of non-qq̄ hadrons such as glueballs and hybrids is one of the most important qualitative questions in QCD. The COMPASS experiment offers the possibility to unambiguously identify such states and map out the glueball and hybrid spectrum. In this review I discuss the expected properties of glueballs and hybrids and how they might be produced and studied by the COMPASS collaboration.

Phenomenology of Spin Zero Mesons and Glueballs
We discuss the phenomenology of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons, emphasizing those which do not carry manifest flavor quantum numbers. Many of the properties of these mesons are still not fully understood. Some of them probably do not have the usual two-quark (quark-antiquark) structure, but may be mixed with glueball states or other exotics. We construct or discuss simple models for these meson...
متن کاملMeson Spectroscopy and the Search for Exotics
I will review the current status of exotic hadrons in the meson sector. There is currently strong evidence that a scalar glueball mixed into the normal scalar mesons has been found. There is also an interesting candidate for the tensor glueball state. Finally, I will discuss hybrid mesons with explicitly exotic quantum numbers.
متن کاملGlueball Spectroscopy in Regge Phenomenology *
We show that linear Regge trajectories for mesons and glueballs, and the cubic mass spectrum associated with them, determine a relation between the masses of the ρ meson and the scalar glueball, M (0 ++) = 3/ √ 2 M (ρ), which implies M (0 ++) = 1620 ± 10 MeV. We also discuss relations between the masses of the scalar and The existence of a gluon self-coupling in QCD suggests that, in addition t...
متن کاملGlueballs and Hybrid Mesons
The status of non-perturbative QCD calculations for mesons with gluonic excitation is presented. Lattice results for the glueball spectrum are reviewed. For hybrid mesons, the heavy quark results are summarised and new results are presented for light quarks. Preliminary results for the spectrum of light-quark hybrid mesons indicate substantial mixing with quark model states for non-exotic J . F...
متن کاملBeyond the quark model of hadrons from lattice QCD
Lattice QCD can give direct information on OZI-violating contributions to mesons. Here we explore the contributions that split flavour singlet and non-singlet meson masses. I discuss in detail the spectrum and decays for scalar mesons (ie including glueball effects). I also review the status of hybrid mesons and their decays.
